Tide Command
Tide Command is a proper strategy game squeezed onto a touchscreen, and it mostly gets away with it. You direct fleets across a cluster of islands, manage supply lines, and try to hold key routes while the AI keeps probing your weak spots. The map is small enough to read on a phone but busy enough to keep you thinking.
The touch controls took me a match or two to trust. Once I set up unit groups, though, moving whole fleets became second nature, and the pause-and-plan option saved me from more than a few panic taps. Matches run around fifteen minutes, which feels right for the format.
It's not the prettiest game on this list, but the systems underneath are solid and the difficulty ramps fairly. If you like out-thinking an opponent more than out-tapping them, this one's worth a look.
What we liked
- Genuine strategic depth in short matches
- Smart pause-and-plan controls for touch
- Fair difficulty curve that respects your time
